5/8-NHL Preview

Tonight the Eastern Conference takes center stage as the dualing game 4s have Boston and Pittsburgh looking to even their series at 2.

Washington at Pittsburgh-The Penguins looked like a new team in game 3 and E. Malkin finally woke up from a 6 game slumber. Despite dominating the majority of the action, the Pens needed OT to finally get their first win of the series. The Penguins are still in a near must win situation and I expect to see the same desperate team we saw in game 3 which will lead to a 4-1 Penguins win and the series being tied at 2 games apiece.

Boston at Carolina-The top seed in the East is on the ropes after losing 3-2 in overtime on Tuesday. Cam Ward continues to be stellar in goal for the Canes while Eric Staal provided most of the offense. If the Bruins are to tie the series tonight, they will need Tim Thomas to play up the Vezina nomination he recently recieved. Expect another tight game this evening with the Bruins adding an empty net goal late by Marc Savard to seal a 3-1 victory.
