ON THE CLOCK-SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

By Mr. Thursday Night

With the 4th pick in the NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks select........

The Seahawks come off an extremely disappointing 2008 season with many question marks all over the field. A 4-12 record has the Hawks picking higher than they have in many years. The 2008 campaigned was destroyed by injuries, in particular to QB Matt Hasselback. Seneca Wallace's play proved he is not a legit NFL starting QB and I look for Seattle to address that issue in the upcoming draft.

In 2008, the Seahawks took USC DE Lawrence Jackson at the end of round 1 who ended up making a moderate impact. In round 2, Seattle traded up and grabbed Notre Dame TE John Carlson who had a terrific rookie season and looks to be a future all-pro. The rest of Seattle's 08 selections had little to no impact on the 53 man roster.

Picking 4th overall puts the Seahwks in a good position to address one of their many holes. They could go defense where almost every position is in need of a playmaker, or try and plug the offensive line that sprung many leaks last season. Despite many other obvious needs, I expect Seattle to either trade out of this spot or take Mark Sanchez, QB USC. The Seahawks saw a preview of what life after Hasselback will be like last season and it wasn't pretty. I also think Seattle figures if they are spending huge dollars on a top 5 pick, it should be on a position that commands the top dollars. I personally am not sold on Sanchez being a good NFL QB but don't be surprised when Seattle calls his name #4 overall.

With the 3rd pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select.........
