WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNERS

By: Cooby L

Well folks, its about that time of the year for Cooby L. to jump back on board of the gambling train. After an 8 year hiatus, I have observed the first 2 rounds and am ready to pass my knowledge onto you amateurs. Here's what I got for Thursday:

Arizona v Louisville (Louisville -9) - Arizona is cute. Barely make the tourney, plays a rotten Utah team only to follow that up with an even worse Cleveland St team. You morons may look at this team as an "underacheiving" team but I am here to tell you not to fall into that trap this weekend. Louisville has looked average at best so far and their best is yet to come. 9 is a lot of points in a Sweet 16 game but this is a no brainer. Don't fall into the Wildcat trap. Louisville by 16.

Syracuse v Oklahoma (Oklahoma -1) - The most intriguing match up on Thursday, I see this as a battle to the end. Can Syracuse stop B Grif? Absolutely not. But outside of him and Willie Warren, Oklahoma has nowhere else to turn. Warren is a cold blooded Freshman and I don't think the pressure will get to him but Oklahoma just does not have enough talent. Syracuse will rely on Deven-hood, Rautins' 3's and one of the best point guards in the nation, Jonny Flynn to help them eke out an 82-78 victory.

Kansas v Michigan St (Michigan St -2) - Another very interesting match up in my opinion. The biggest question here is will Kansas lack of experience cost them in the end? My prediction is no. Michigan St has shown this year that they have the talent to reach the Final 4 but they are far too inconsistent. Kansas is playing some of the best ball in the nation. Michigan St will have no answer for Aldrich or Collins. The game will be close until MSU goes on a scoring drought midway through the 2nd half. Kansas wins by 8.

Gonzaga v UNC (UNC -8 1/2) - UNC is the biggest lock of the day. With Lawson getting healthier by the minute, the Zags stand no chance. There is far too much talent on this UNC team. Also, Psycho T is not going to end his career against a team like Gonzaga. Expect 27 points, 13 rebounds, 38 pulling down of his shorts, and 10 shots from his hip that makes you want to vomit. So there it is folks. Take it as you please.

  4. No breakdown of Thursday games???

Agree with the Loui play but not b/c of your reasons. This game is very similar to Mary/Memphis. Mary made their run to get in, legitimized themselves with a 1st round win and got blown out the next game b/c they were content. Same thing here with Zona. They were disrespected for getting in, legitimized themselves by winning 2 games and are now content. If they were to have played WF instead of Cleve St, they would have lost already. Pitino has been cracking the whip all week and the Cards come out firing. Loui by 15+

If Cuse can keep the game in the 60's they can win. If it's in the high 70's or 80's like you say, not a chance. If Cuse were to have lost the OT game with Conn in the Big East tourny, OU is a 3.5 fave here, not 1. OU has had plenty of time to prepare for the zone. OU will run, Cuse will try to keep up but the clock strikes midnight for this Cinderella story. OU by 5+

Mich St is young. KU is young. No advantage. Coaching presents no advantage. Half court game goes to Mich St. Up tempo goes to KU. Both turn the ball over at a fairly high rate. Team with the ball last wins.

UNC, NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND! This is Mark Few's best team he's had at Gonzaga. Perception tells us Gonzaga was lucky against WKU. ESPN tells us Lawson is the 2nd coming of Christ with his 2nd half performance. He wasn't playing against Jeremy Pargo. The public loves UNC. They are "everyone's" champion. UNC plays right into Gonzaga's hands with their up tempo style. Gonzaga is longer and taller than UNC. Bulldogs win this one and every Cooby L in America goes home crying!

Cooby L goes 1-3 on Friday, that is your LOCK OF THE DAY!!

  5. Duke and Nova will come down to whether or not Duke can hit from the outside. If they do, they cover. If they don't, they lose the game. I'll take a more experienced coach and team here and say they can knock down the 3. Duke by 5

Pitt looks awful lately. Xavier is overrated. Xavier actually has the size to match up with Pitt and they will be bigger some of the time. However, Pitt is the cream of the crop. Xavier has been tested and beat a couple of good teams (Mizz and Memph) but the Panthers get it done here. Pitt by 12

Memphis and Mizzou is the best match up in the S16. I honestly can't see an advantage either way. Similar to the Mich St/KU game. Team with the ball last wins.

The Purdue/Conn game will be a slugfest! Both teams are in the top 5 road defenses in the nation. I think Conn gets the job done but the Boilermakers keep it within the 7. The best play is under 135.
